(PRWeb UK) March 20, 2011

MyWeddingJobs.co.uk has launched a unique website which promises to have any bride-to-be beaming with pleasure.

The brand new bidding site aims to turn the average cost of a wedding on its head yet still give the happy couple a day to remember.

It is also set to take the strain out of the big day by allowing couples to browse through a range of suppliers at leisure without having to scroll through hundreds of supplier sites.

The concept of bringing together bridal consumers and suppliers ‘under the one roof’ is the brainchild of Derby entrepreneur Sonia Kanda. She remembers the rising price tag and strain of planning her own wedding five years ago.

“The overall price of a wedding can get ridiculous with costs escalating as time goes on,” she said. “Where myweddingjobs.com prevents this is by getting brides to post up how much they plan to spend on their wedding.

“Suppliers are then encouraged to bid for the various jobs knowing how much is in the bride’s budget. That way everyone knows what’s on the table to begin with and no-one is wasting anyone’s time. It’s a simple, effective and stress-free way to plan your nuptials.”

Suppliers available for hire on the portal include professional wedding photographers, limousine drivers, dress makers, wedding caterers and wedding venues.

Those looking to purchase bridal services post up their requirements for free. This includes dates, times, duration, location and cost. These then become available to any supplier wishing to browse.

Suppliers interested in the jobs displayed on myweddingjobs.co.uk sign-up for a minimal charge and let the bride know they are interested by placing a bid. The bride can then choose which bid she prefers based on price and information in the supplier’s email to her.

Nervous brides can also check supplier feedback given by those who have used them in the past.

With the average cost of tying the knot now around £15,000 wedding planners are convinced the business will be a big success, particularly in these recession-hit times.

The site only launched this week but already myweddingjobs.co.uk has received plenty of interest from wedding planners and suppliers.

“Judging by the response we’ve had in only a few days it is obvious there’s a need for something like this,” said Sonia. “We’re just delighted to be helping. After all, even getting to the church on time is stressful enough, without worrying about the huge debt you’ve just run up for the big day.

“It’s just a shame that royal bride Kate Middleton had already planned her wedding before we came on the scene!”

More information on the site and its suppliers can be found at http://www.myweddingjobs.co.uk

There are hundreds of corporate events caterers in the UK, and a huge variety of services offered by them. Some event caterers may just supply fresh sandwiches, salads and cakes for lunches in the office or at offsite meetings. Other companies specialise in director’s lunches, in offices or headquarters. And even more high end corporate caterers design and deliver every aspect of glamorous canape receptions, lavish five course banquets, and cool corporate garden parties, all aimed at wowing clients and colleagues alike.

The best corporate event caterers can of course deliver everything from one end of the spectrum to the other – a delicious freshly toasted sandwich for a clients’ driver and personal assistant? Not a problem. Stunning seafood ice bars in designer marquees or remote French chateaus? Easily done. The finest vintage champagnes, the most incredible caviars, the freshest oysters and the rarest cuts of Kobe beef? All possible if your corporate organisation can afford it!

Corporate events (and indeed corporate events budgets) are now absolutely crucial to the world’s big corporate hitters, and as the industry gets more and more competitive, the companies that really wow their clients are the ones that stand out from the pack.

The very best corporate event catering companies – such as The Admirable Crichton, Alison Price, deWintons and “rhubarb” – can make every corporate event a real theatrical production, with the best glasses and china, the most professional uniformed and corporate logo-ed staff, and of course the best, freshest and most seasonal food, served in the most stunning ways. If you work in events for a big corporate company, and if your corporate events budget fits the bill, then using this kind of event catering company means you can be sure your business strikes exactly the right notes. If you want perfectionism and professionalism, if you want to impress with attention to every little detail, if you want your corporate event catering to reflect and mirror your company’s business image and reputation, then this is the way to go!

Of course if your event catering ensures maximum impact for your company, then every single one of your guests leaves your event feeling that they have been looked after in the very best of ways. Not only will they have eaten the most fabulous food and sampled the finest wines, but most importantly they will have been impressed. A memorable corporate event like this, with superb catering, can simply make or break the biggest international business deals.

Event catering companies such as Food Show, “rhubarb” and Alison Price have catered for numerous events for some of the UK’s biggest corporate hitters, such as HSBC, Barclays Capital, De Beers, KPMG, Royal Bank of Scotland, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Deutsche Bank, Sotheby’s, Citibank and Rolls Royce. And events for these kinds of companies can take place in some of the most amazing venues such as The Royal Courts of Justice, The Natural History Museum or The Design Museum. And of course with the best corporate caterers being accredited and recommended at certain venues, there is always fierce competition for the best corporate jobs. The companies that win are those with the very best product, the very best service and the most impeccable reputation – just like the corporate companies that win in business too!

There is no doubt that the UK’s catering consultants are at the very top of their game. Competition within the catering field is fierce, and with such a great deal of event business up for grabs in London, Surrey & beyond, catering companies have to be creative and forward thinking at all times, in both their product and their service.

Of course there are hundreds of different kinds of caterer in the UK. Some, such as Absolute Taste or “rhubarb” are large, luxury organisations employing hundreds of staff and operating in lots of different business sectors (such as fixed venues and retail). Others are smaller, more budget and more family run catering companies – companies that are ideal for catering at a small family christening or birthday bash.

The very best catering companies in the UK though, are normally based in London. Whilst based there, where the hub of the events industry is located, they often operate further afield and can even cater for celebrity, business and corporate events abroad.

It is in this high end celebrity, business and corporate event market that a catering company really needs to up the ante. At a charity and celebrity gala for thousands of people the catering alone can cost hundreds of thousands of pounds, so the variety and scope within the catering industry is enormous.

The style of these event caterers, particularly at weddings, birthday parties or charity events, is almost as crucial as the food! In fact, some of the catering consultants based in London have made their food an absolute art form. Picture the scene – towering ice laden piles of seafood, dessert tables heaving with miniature cakes and ices, wok stations and sushi bars, oyster boys and caviar girls…anything is possible in the luxury catering industry.

The larger UK catering companies such as The Admirable Crichton or Urban Caprice have very large event catering planning teams, whose job it is to organise all the catering services for an event and finalise all the outside catering arrangements for their clients. Employed on a full time basis they can build up superb relationships with their clients and ensure that their expectations for their birthday or gala dinner are always more than exceeded.

Most good catering companies can work in varying venues too, and of course the UK can provide the perfect choice of those – grand museums and galleries, atmospheric courts and castles, green parks, fairytale palaces and grand public spaces. Other countries simply do not have the ability to take their catering expertise wherever it needs to go, and from that perspective too, the UK catering industry is simply second to none.

Sara Allom writes about catering consultants in the UK.

It is difficult enough to get all the right people in a room at the same time in the corporate world. An easy solution is to look for a common need they all share. Everyone needs to eat.

For this reason, boardroom lunches, motivational breakfast meetings, and promotional cocktail finger food functions in the evenings have all become invaluable catered events.

The benefits of corporate lunch catering include the swiftness of the occasion. It provides mminimal interruption to workflow. If you employ a professional caterer, your input is limited to deciding on the menu, arranging for pick-up or delivery and sorting out the bill. It’s easy. Depending on the scale of your corporate lunch, food can be arranged over the internet or phone.

Corporate catering is convenient. For those who attend, it means eating without leaving the office, saving time for more important matters.

It’s affordable. Food can be tailored to suit any budget, from sandwiches and fruit to chef-prepared pasta and pastries. Catering is a competitive business, so if one company won’t give you what you want, simply phone another.

A catered event can be encouraging for the attendees.People who might be unexcited by the idea of a meeting may find the prospect of food just the incentive they need to attend.

Your corporate catered event can be casual. Having lunch between sessions of a meeting, or even during, allows attendees to move briefly into a social space with their colleagues, removing barriers to communication.

When work on a particular business arrangement needs to be done. Think board meetings, sales of assets, budget meetings and so on. A corporate catered event can provide a positive environment where deals can be done.

Corporate catered events can encourage good working relationships. Taking the formality out of a business situation, if only for a short time, has marked benefits for both clients and staff.

Networking opportunities often arise in the less formal situation of a catered lunch. Private conversations about matters discussed publicly can have material benefits for a negotiation. It is an expression of gratitude and sends a signal that staff are important and appreciated when catering is provided. Business-to-business relationships can move onto a more personal footing.

Food fuels tired minds – having a catered lunch meeting helps keep minds on the job.

The difference a sandwich can make is significant. Providing lunch for your hard-working clients and staff can help facilitate better business outcomes, and often for a reasonable sum. Not only do your staff and clients feel appreciated, but the workflow benefits are many.

Phone a corporate lunch caterer today to find out how your business can benefit from their tucker.

Here are some menu ideas for different occasions:

Boardroom lunches – 3 to 5 course sit down menus including entrees, main courses, desserts, coffee and chocolates, and perhaps cheese platters. Waiters can serve to assist in the smoothness of the formal event.
Breakfast menus – cold and hot buffet breakfasts, that can be served or self serving.
Finger food – cold and hot canapes served to stand up affairs with lots of wait staff to ensure all guests are well fed.

A golden rule when planning any sort of corporate event is to hire a professional corporate caterer as this is one of the best ways to appeal to everyone’s palate, and ensure that everything runs a smooth as possible. Here are some of the things you need to consider when approaching or hiring a corporate caterer.

Menu

The type of menu you look for will depend on what type of corporate event you are hosting, but it is always a good idea to opt for something general with a wide variety. Your clientele will also have a big impact on the type of food served. For example, a cocktail party for your company’s clients might suit canapés, whereas an annual employee meal for your small family firm might suit a sit down meal. Your catering company should be able to provide recommendations about the type of food which suits your event and your budget. Whatever type of catering service is provided, ensure that the corporate catering company provide locally sourced produce.

Number of guests

If you have a large number of guests at your corporate event, it is always a good idea to start searching for caterer well in advance. The number of people attending your event may also have an impact on the style of catering you require.

Theme

Does your event have a theme? For example, if you were hosting a re-launch party, it might be possible to carry on the branding into the corporate catering.

Service required

When contacting a corporate caterer it is important that you know what you require from the catering company. Do you want the food delivered to the premises prior to the event as you or someone else is handling the service? Or perhaps you require the caterer to provide waiting staff? You must ensure that the caterer is fully aware of what is expected of them.

Price

Hosting a catered corporate event is bound to come at a cost, but if your budget is tight, don’t hesitate to inform the catering company of this and ask what they would be able to provide. By establishing a relationship with the corporate caterer, you might find that they are very willing to meet your needs.

Once you have book your corporate catering company, you can sit back and enjoy the event without having to worry about your guests going hungry.

Hosting a big event can be overwhelming and a challenging task for even the most organised person. The main thing you need to do to make things easier on yourself is to get organised. You need a list of the people you’re inviting to the event so that you can get a head count. The next thing is to decide on the style of event and the food that you will be serving. This is dependent on the type of event. If it’s a wedding, you might want a served meal but if you are having a birthday or anniversary you might choose a more informal option such as a barbecue.

No matter what the event is, you going to need the proper decorations, serving utensils, dinnerware, drink glasses and other decor such as napkins, candelabras, and flowers and so on. While planning a big event can be stressful, being organised and planning things out thoroughly can help your event be huge success.

Catering Tips

If you are holding a banquet and need banquet catering ideas, here are some things to think about. It can sometimes be hard to get started, but if you keep a few things in mind you should be able to have a great banquet catering experience.

The first thing that you need to think about is what kind of banquet you are throwing. If it is a wedding banquet, you will usually be a bit more formal. A business meeting or corporate awards banquet or recognition ceremony will also lend itself to a more formal atmosphere and menu. If it is a teen banquet or other less formal occasion, you can be a little less sophisticated with your menu.

Before you choose a banquet catering company, it is wise to determine the location of your event. This way, the caterer will have a better idea of how and where they can set things up. If you need to rent additional items like plates, silverware, tables, or chairs the caterer may be able to help you. They cannot help you, however, if you don’t know whether you need these things or not. They can also have a better understanding of how many servers they will need and what kind of set up is required. If you don’t have a location in mind before you choose a banquet catering service, the caterer may have a recommendation.

When you are planning a menu, try to discuss your thoughts with the head chef. Don’t just deal with the banquet catering sales rep or the manager. The head chef can advise you of any specialties that he or she may prepare especially well or what dishes he or she would recommend with a particular main course.

Another great banquet catering tip is to serve small portions of several different courses. By doing this you ensure that your guests don’t get too full and they also remain interested in the food. Focus on presentation to make the food attractive. This way, no one feels deprived by the smaller portions. They are just impressed by the looks of the dish.

Breads are universally expected in banquet catering. To keep guests intrigued from the time they sit down, make the bread basket a variety. Don’t just serve plain rolls. Serve all different kinds of breads. This way everyone’s tastes are satisfied and no one gets bored.

Serve unusual desserts to impress your guests. They don’t have to be overly expensive, but make sure they are pretty and delicious. This is the last food item and your chance to make a positive lasting impression so take advantage of it.

Banquet catering can be a big job, but if you keep some of these ideas in mind, you will be able to wow your guests and have them talking about your event for months to come.

Here are some tips to think about if you are considering hiring an event catering service:

1. It is easier! The caterers will do all the work you just need to tell them how many guests and pick a menu. You probably want to plan on meeting with them about six times before the event to work out the kinks.

2. Hire them ahead of time. Many of the really good catering services might be booked a year in advance and certainly most of them will need a three to six month lead time in order to properly cater your event. Therefore, you’ll need to start looking at catering services as soon as you know that you are going to need one. The further ahead you can book them the better your choices of caterers will be.

3. Sometimes bigger isn’t better. Sometimes the biggest and most expensive event catering services aren’t necessarily the best ones. A lot of the smaller ones may work harder as they are still building a reputation. Plus, sometimes the bigger ones use canned or packaged foods while the small ones will typically make everything from scratch.

4. Network. The event caterers typically have a network of complimentary services like florists, decorators and disc jockeys so if you’re looking for any of these services you might want to ask your caterer who they might recommend. This could end up being easier and maybe even cheaper for you.

5. Do your homework. Before you hire anyone, you want to make sure you do your due diligence. Check all references to make sure that other clients were satisfied with the job of the caterer. Also you want to make sure that they are certified in safety procedures as well as food handling. The certification is done by your local Board of Health and they should just have it posted right in their place of business. In addition, get a copy of their liability insurance to make sure they are covered.

6. Make a visit. Before you make the final deal, visit the caterers in their place of business. Oftentimes they’ll have little samples of their food and you want to take advantage of this to make sure that the production tastes good.

7. Payment. Usually you’ll have to give the event catering service 50% up front to confirm the reservation. The final payment is usually due a couple of weeks before the event. If you need to cancel you want to notify the caterer as soon as you know because the sooner you can let them know the more of your deposit you will get back. Usually, however, if you cancel less than 30 days before the event you probably lose your whole deposit and maybe even a little bit more. It’s always a good idea to read the fine print in your contract to find out what the penalties may be.

8. Budget. When working with an event catering service, you want to understate your budget a little bit so that you have a little wiggle room in case you have to make menu changes or add more guests. Most catered events usually end up costing more than the original quote so you can keep within your budget if you simply understate it to begin with.

Here are some more things you might consider:

- Don’t like what you see on the menu? As the caterer if he can create a custom menu based on your tastes and budget.

- Keep in mind that most caterers charge per person so the cost of the meals will be directly related to how many guests he was invited to a wedding.

- Sometimes caterers charge a service charge. This largely depends on the style of serving. A buffet style might have less of the charge, but if someone is cutting the deal will be something extra. If it will be a sit down meal with waiters and waitresses that additional expense to cover their wages may be added.

- If there is a bar with alcohol and hourly fee for the bartender may be added.

- Can you believe there is a cake cutting fee? Yep this covers the expense of cutting and serving the cake.

- Typically wine or champagne is served for the toast and a lot of catering businesses will charge a pouring fee for this.

No matter which way you look at it, hiring a wedding catering service is good cost you some money but if you shop around you may be able to get a good deal on the caterer that will do a fantastic job on your reception. Don’t forget, this is your big day and you don’t want to squirm too much or you might just get what you pay for.
